Two years ago, Joanna''s debut album, Stars Are Rising, was my favourite album of 2017. It''s always a daunting experience to follow such an amazing debut, however Joanna has surpassed herself. It''s a beautiful selection of family favourites that takes the listener on a journey through a day in the life of a child. Joanne stamps her own identity on wonderful reworkings of songs like Greatest Day, I''d Like To Teach The World To Sing and If I Ruled The World. It''s an exquisite and entertaining experience! As with her debut album, a lot of work has been put into the production and the mastering. The sound quality is exceptional and gives any system a great workout! I would highly recommend this album for children or to satisfy the inner child in us all.

What a pleasure it is to have an opportunity to write a review of Joanna Forest''s new album ‘The Rhythm of Life’. This is Joanna’s second album following the success of her debut album ‘Stars are Rising’ that shot to #1 in the UK Classical Charts and therefore making history being the first Independent Classical Crossover artist to go direct to #1 with her Debut album. Unfortunately, ‘The Rhythm of Life’ did not meet the strict guidelines regarding classical content to be eligible for entry in the UK classical charts but it did reach #1 in the Amazon charts on it''s official release date. Joanna is a forward thinker and she continues to try something very unique and challenging with her music selection and her album concepts. If you take a look at the back of this beautifully designed album cover you will see that Joanna has chosen an hour of the day and not the standard track number for her songs that take you on a journey starting at 8 am with the song ‘Greatest Day’ and finishing at 7 pm with the song ‘Clair de Lune’. I absolutely love this album. The tracks that Joanna has selected bring back fond memories from my youth of going to the cinema with my family to watch iconic movies like ‘Mary Poppins’, ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’, ‘Pinochio’ and ‘Oliver Twist’. It will not take you long before you will also be singing along to tracks like ‘Let’s Go and Fly a Kite’, ‘Hushabye Mountain’, ‘When You Wish Upon a Star’ and ‘Food Glorious Food’. Not only will you enjoy this journey back to your childhood your children will love it too. Maybe it will prompt you to get out those old DVDs and sit down as a family to watch them over again. However, I did have to correct my daughter that Food Glorious Food was originally from Oliver Twist and not from the Ice Age movie though. This album also confirms to me just how talented and versatile Joanna is as a vocalist because she has had to sing tracks that you would not usually associate with a classically trained singer. Her vocal interpretation of these tracks are what Mary Poppins may call: super- "above", cali- "beauty", fragilistic- "delicate", expiali- "to atone" and docious "educable". Not only that but she has added her very own unique signature on tracks like ''If I Ruled The World'' which is outstanding. Joanna is also joined by the brilliant BGT winner Paul Potts on ‘Because we Believe’ and by Andy Day on ‘Let’s Go and Fly a Kite’. Once again the album is produced and orchestrated by the fabulous Robert Emery who also teamed up with Joanna on her chart topping #1 debut album ''Stars are Rising''. The CD also comes with a beautiful booklet featuring some wonderful doodles by Gary Andrews against each track. I strongly recommend this album that has something for everyone and will be enjoyed by people of all ages. It even comes with a little bit of humor involving a very naughty Teddy.

Her voice is effortlessly in tune, has a lovely tone and is crystal clear, bringing the story of the lyrics to life. I particularly enjoy this version of Food Glourious Food. The duet with Paul Potts is beautiful and Let’s Go Fly a Kite with Andy Day puts a smile on your face and spring in your step. I like the way there are so many positive lyrics in this album making it a must buy!

Had this album for about almost a week now and until today just dipped into individual songs but today I had to go into Bath early and on my journey listened to it start to finish - somehow seeing Bath shopkeepers open up and people going about their business while I listened to it as a backdrop totally enhanced the experience - it’s a musical tour-de-force - perfect selecting tracks individually but this album particularly should be enjoyed eaten whole - there’s Joanna’s twists on every track and some really unusual and refreshing choices - love it ❤️

Lovely selection of songs that both adults and children will love to listen to and sing along (although Rhythm of Life song has a few too many words for me to sing along with ha ha!) This album has some fantastic collaborations and it''s lovely to hear Joanna singing with children''s and adult choirs along with the amazing orchestra. The bonus Claire De Lune at the end is stunning even though Joanna''s not singing on that track. Well done - can''t wait for the 3rd album to add to my collection!
